SLIDE: The three mistaken assumptions of foreign cellphone operators in Japan:

  • “QWERTY” is the most comfortable input for every human being
  • People want their PC experience on a mobile
  • Two handed multitouch is always easier than single handed

From @akky Akimoto’s presentation on Japan’s tech scene to the Taiwanese tech community.

The presentation has a number of insights into the Japanese tech scene. For example, I learned about Netindex.jp, a Japanese language site that tracks stock information of the top IT and internet firms in Japan. There are also some great slides on the importance of mobile phones for internet ventures, the popularity of the iPhone and other smartphones, and how Japanese phones are different from foreign phones and if they will last.
